June 30,
St. Martin How time flies! We really love St. Martin, but do have to move on very soon. Looks like a few more days and then we are off to Antigua and Barbuda. I flew to the states to get some dentistry work done a few weeks ago. Thanks Ylang! I visited friends and family and got some things done. However, things seemed to fall apart for a few days. First, I found out that my storage unit was broken into and I lost a lot of stuff. Then, when I left California, I forgot my passport (duh!) and got stuck in Puerto Rico for a few days while I waited for my friend to ship it to me. Then, I got my laptop and cell phone stolen, which had all my data and photos. So, when I arrived, Christine was very very nice to me. This was not like Christine – I smelled a rat. The next day, she announces that she wants Gypsy Cat to herself and wants to buy me out. Hmmm. She decides she wants to get an all female crew and sail around Cape Horn. Well, we settled everything out and that’s the plan. So, from here we are sailing together south and going our separate ways at the end of the year. Christine will take Gypsy Cat and sail one way, while I get another boat and stay in the Caribbean and do charters. We’ve been having fun too.
We just did our Open Water Course and are certified divers! And, we have
our own equipment. We had private lessons by Oscar at
hd@caribbeanvideoservices. Christine had a little issue
with neutral buoyancy which was really funny. She would randomly float up
every once in awhile and we would have to pull her back. At one point, I
was hovering upside-down in front of her and she flipped me off. She later
said I was showing off. Ha ha. We saw lots of turtles, a sea snake, rays,
a Moray eel, a nurse shark, and tons of great sea-life. The last day we
dove on a wreck off Tintamarre Island. Even did some surfing behind Oscar's
dinghy.
