March 18, 2010 St. Martin Yep, we are done. We did all we set out to do and more. So, we are going our own ways seeking new adventures, and Gypsy Cat is for sale. If you are interested, here is the info:
March 29, 2010 St. Barts So, after a very intensive and very satisfying detail job on Gypsy Cat, she is looking showroom new. It was a bit of an obsession on my part to get every little rust spot, stain, mark, scuff, blemish, etc., off. Days of scrubbing and then two days of waxing, a full day on the stainless steel, and now you need sunglasses on deck due to the intensive shine - wow!
My reward for all my hard work was to hit the
road and go to St. Barts. Just in time for the 2010 Bucket Race.
What's the Bucket? Well, the winner gets a bucket to hold for
the year, kind of like America's Cup. If you want to race, though, you
need a megayacht over 100' to enter. Like these:
I couldn't take Gypsy Cat because of Christine who wanted to stay behind, so I hitched a ride over on S/V Eiland (thanks!). I'm staying with my friends Andy and Veronique (thanks guys). Today, we went sailing on Shambala over to Ille Fourchue watching the boats go by while we bar-b-que'd. Yesterday, I sailed on the $3 million dollar catamaran, "Perle Noir" (Black Pearl in French). Thank you Antonio (winner of a previous bucket) for the invite, Captain Morgan (the captain's real name), Hugo, and the other crew. Right now, I am at a friend's villa by the pool, the moon is full, my belly is full of beer from the famous Le Select where they had live music (the Wild Mangoes) and it's time for a swim. Somebody's got to do it, right?
